In 1884, Léon Breitling opened a facility in Saint-Imier that manufactured industrial counters and high quality instruments to measure brief time intervals. In the subsequent years, Breitling has become known for being on the forefront of innovation in the watchmaking industry, inventing the self-winding chronograph movement in 1969. Breitling offers chronometers designed with aviators in mind. After Breitling launched its iconic Navitimer in 1952, it became the “must-have” watch brand for pilots worldwide.
